so are we just waiting

Restarts, loot tables, vehicles, complaints about all three.

Seven months on and kasper's still driving a UAZ like the wipe never happened. The date on that config change still isn't the day he said it was. He posted the whole explanation in the thread and everyone moved on. I didn't.

SaltyPete, I remember the shoreline night when nobody shot anyone for hours. The crossroads man came and went that week too, same as always. Kasper will keep doing what he wants regardless.

SaltyPete, the problem is that the outage wiped the records we would normally use to check this. I was on the server when it dropped on the tenth and the host's ticket log only starts on the third day. Whatever kasper changed, if he changed it before the tenth, there is no surviving timestamp that says so. We are left with his forum post and a UAZ that everyone watched him drive all winter. That is a documentation failure, not a memory failure. If the change was made during the outage window, then the config date should match the host's restart logs, which also stop on the tenth. Nobody has posted those logs. I asked last week and the response was that the ticket was closed. So the only way this gets settled is if kasper still has the local copy of the files.

edit: spelling

the local copy. i asked for that the day after the restart. kasper said he'd look and then the thread went quiet, same as the tent camp notrh of Kabanino a month before. still waiting.

saltyPete, you're right to keep pushing on the local copy. The forum thread is the only record left and it stops exactly where ksaper said he'd look. I checked the host control panel this morning and the earliest log entry is from the thirteenth, so nothing survives from before the tenth. The ban thread went quiet the same way after a few days — the people who had the evidence stopped posting and everyone else moved on. i still remember how that ended. if kasper has the local files, he has the only thing that can settle this. i would not expect him to find them. The tent camp silence is the same pattern.

I'll sort it. Sending kasper a PM tonight, asking for the local copy again. If he's still got the files there's a timestamp in there; if not, I'll pull the host's restart log from the 13th and then it's the beans thing again — nobody says anything and the thread just stops.

Chad, that plan is as good as it's going to get. The ban thread went quiet the same way and I still remember the day nobody posted in it again. I keep thinking about the base that morning — the can in the middle of the floor, no note, no one owning up — and how we all just looked at it and moved on. Kasper has a way of letting a thread go cold. I'll wait to hear what he says.

Doc_Mallory, I read the thread again at 4am and nobody had posted since cha.d The crossroads man never spoke either, we just waved at him every week until that became the normal thnig. Maybe kasper needs that kind of time.
